Indication
For the relief of pain and inflammation, respiratory disease in cattle
Contraindication
Patients with cardiac, renal, or hepatic disease, where there is the possibility of gastro intestinal ulceration or bleeding ,hypersensitivity to the drug, blood dyscrasias, treatment with other NSAIDs concurrently or within 24 hours.
Mechanism of Action
The mechanism of action of carprofen, like that of other NSAIDs, is believed to be associated with the inhibition of cyclooxygenase activity.
Carprofen has also been shown to inhibit the release of several prostaglandin in two inflammatory cell system.
Carprofen has modulatory effects on both humoral and cellular immune response, also indicate that carprofen inhibits the production of osteoclast-activity factor (OAF) by its inhibitory effects on prostaglandin biosynthesis.
